Watching and downloading your recordings
Recorded meetings have a player above their transcript, with video for calls in Zoom, Google Meet and Teams. Here's how to turn video on and play a call back from any line.
Which calls get video
Calls in Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams are recorded with video once Sorinai picks up the meeting. Any other call, like a phone call through your computer or a WhatsApp call, is recorded as audio and plays back the same way.
- Windows
- Nothing to set up. Video works straight away.
- Mac
- In Settings → Permissions, click Enable next to Screen recording and allow it. The setup screen offers it too, as the optional Screen recording row. macOS applies it once you quit and reopen Sorinai, so video starts with your next call.
On a Mac, the same permission lets the copilot look at your screen when you ask, so you may have turned it on already.
Watching a call back
Open a past meeting and click the transcript button at the top of the page. The player sits above the transcript, with a timeline coloured by who’s speaking.
- Click the picture to open the video in its own window. Close it and the player carries on from the same moment.
- The arrows at the end of the player make the picture bigger, and Sorinai remembers the size you pick.
- Calls without video show Audio only and play the same way.
Right after a call the recording takes a little while to be ready, and the player shows a spinner until it is.
Playing from any line
Click any line in the transcript and the call plays from there. The line being spoken is marked as it plays, and each line shows its time when you hover over it.
You can start from your notes or your template, too. Open the quotes under a line of your notes or an answer in your template and click one to land on that moment in the transcript, then click the line to play it.
Downloading the recording
Click Download at the top of the meeting. A call with video offers Download video (MP4), which opens the video with a Download video button under it. A call without video offers Download audio (MP3). Either way, you choose where to save it.
Your filled-in document is in the same menu, under Download document. Recordings don’t count towards the Starter plan’s 10 document downloads a month.
Meeting apps on a Mac
On a Mac with Apple silicon, Settings → Permissions has a Meeting apps section for Microsoft Teams and Google Meet. It’s experimental. Click Enable on one and Sorinai records each person’s audio on its own for a more accurate transcript, and takes the video straight from the app, so those calls get video even without Screen recording.
- Set it up before a call, as your browser may restart once.
- Google Meet needs Google Chrome as your default browser, and Teams needs the Teams app.
- If you said no to the macOS prompt, allow Sorinai under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation, then click Enable again.
If there’s no video
- Screen recording is off on your Mac. Turn it on as above, then quit and reopen Sorinai. Calls recorded before that stay audio only.
- The call wasn’t in Zoom, Google Meet or Teams, or Sorinai didn’t pick up the meeting. Those calls are recorded as audio — see Meeting app not detected.
- The meeting is from before the update. Video starts with calls recorded after you update Sorinai.
- The player says it couldn’t load the recording. Check your connection and open the meeting again.
